Week of February 9- February 20

Art 1 and Advanced Art:

RaeArt Abstract Cubism Painting in tempera/acrylic VALUE painting

Students will
  • Learn and create a color wheel
  • Understand color relationships and how they affect an artist
  • Learn how to mix colors with just the primary colors plus black and white
  • Create a monochromatic value study applying tints and shades
  • Study the YouTube artist Raeart
  • Explore graffiti art and the 2D application of abstract art
  • Learn about Cubism and how to draw in the cubist/Picasso style of art
  • Create an independent abstract tempera painting utilizing influences by Picasso and Raeart as well as reflect, analyze and create VALUE, overlapping and depth in their work.
ALL CLASSES: 6-12
Art History Friday Artist: Robert Indiana (LOVE artist) in honor of Valentines Day along with Tyree Guyton, African-American Artist of the week in honor of Black History Month.

6th Grade: Cubism Paintings
Students will:
  • Learn and create a color wheel
  • Understand color relationships and value in painting
  • Learn about the artist Pablo Picasso and the style of art CUBSIM
  • Create an independent creative, self-expressive cubism drawing & painting:)
Studio Art: Independent Projects
  • Selected artists will continue to paint a Bob Ross Landscape in Oil on their self-built canvases
  • Students will have a shortened Art History Friday as a review
  • Student Progress Art Critique Friday
